When in doubt… eat eggs.

When chickens are happy and healthy they produce one of the most value packed food sources in the world. Eggs are a really easy option when choosing a nutritious meal whether you have a whole day off or just 5 minutes to spare. Here’s why:

  • 2 large eggs provides 12g protein and 1.4g carbohydrates
  • Studies have shown that people who eat eggs for breakfast are more satisfied, eat less in subsequent meals and lose more weight over time

What about the yolk?

These fats are good for you! They trigger a release of leptin hormone to switch off your hunger signals helping you feel satisfied. Humans are very adapted to eating saturated fats from animal sources and have a good hunger switch-off in response – unlike sugars and carbs. Saturated fats are not the devil we thought they were!

Egg yolk also contains:

  • Omega-3 fats – anti-inflammatory effects, cardiac health, metabolism and mental health
  • Minerals for optimal body functioning – Iron, selenium, iodine, zinc and magnesium
  • Vitamins… A – eye health, D – bones and teeth, E – anti-oxidant, K – blood, bones, kidneys
  • B vitamins for metabolism and nerve function – B1 (Thiamin), B2 (Riboflavin), B3 (Niacin), B5 (Pantothenic acid), B6 (Pyridoxine), B9 (Folate), B12 (Cobalamin)
  • Carotenoids lutein and zeaxanthin – for optimal eye health

Eggcellent.
